Usage

Demandit is a flexible coating ideally suited for concrete, limestone-cement (mature, dry and previously primed), wood and metal (previously primed) surfaces as well as stucco. Demandit may also be used for renovating or changing the colour of Dryvit finishes.

Technical data

Weight: 21.7 kg net (pail)

Coverage: approx. 0.2 – 0.25 kg/m2 using one coat, approx. 0.35 – 0.4 kg/m2 using two coats.

NOTE: Coverage rate has been determined assuming the product is applied by an experienced professional. The actual coverage may significantly depend on the condition of the substrate as well as application method used and individual experience.

Drying time

Under normal atmospheric conditions (temperature +20°C, 55% relative humidity) the Demandit coat is dry to the touch (surface dry) after 2 hours and ready for application of a second coat after 12 hours.

The painted surface should be protected against rain and frost for at least 24 hours.

NOTE: At lower temperatures and higher humidity, in particular during autumn months, drying time may be significantly longer.

Vapour permeability

The Demandit coat is permeable to vapour (according to ASTM E96).

Resistance to aging

Accelerated aging test conducted in accordance with ASTM G23: No losses or discolorations were noticed after 2000 hours of accelerated aging.

Mildew resistance

Resistant against mildew and mould (in accordance with Mil Std 810B).

Conditions of usage

Air and substrate temperature at the time of application of Demandit paint and during the next 12 h should not drop below +7°C.

Up

Substrate preparation

Remove all old blistered paint coats. Remove all surface gloss.

The surface should be clean, dry, well bonded and free of tarnishes and blooms.

Metal surfaces – should be painted using anticorrosive paint.

Dryvit acrylic finishes – fresh finishes may be painted after they have dried (at + 20°C and relative humidity of 55 % - after at least 24 hours); already existing finishes should be washed using a mild detergent, thoroughly rinsed and dried.

Dryvit (Drytex and Roxtex) mineral finishes – fresh finishes may be painted after they have dried (at + 20°C and relative humidity of 55 % - after at least 48 hours). Drying time in case of lower temperatures and higher relative humidity, in particular during autumn months, is longer. Due to cement and lime content, painting should be commenced only after the mineral finish has completely dried .

Discolorations and blooming may appear during the painting of moist mineral finishes. If this occurs, wait until the surface is completely dry and them remove blooms with 2% hydrochloric acid which should be subsequently washed, dried and then repaint.

Other stucco finishes – conduct adherence test, fill gaps.

Limestone-cement finishes – paint using Color Prime. Freshly laidinishes may only be painted when they are air dry depending on thickness and atmospheric conditions - at least 28 days after they have been applied. Already existing finishes should be washed using 2% hydrochloric acid, rinsed, dried and all surface defects repaired.

Concrete surfaces – paint using Color Prime. Freshly laid surfaces may be painted no sooner than after 28 days whereas already existing surfaces should be washed with 2% hydrochloric acid, rinsed and gaps filled with Primus or Genesis adhesive mixed with Portland CEM I 32.5 cement (mixed 1:1 by weight) without any additives.

Brick substrates – should be evened off using Primus or Genesis adhesive mixed with Portland CEM I 32.5 cement (mixed 1:1 by weight) without any additives.

Up

Preparation for usage

Mix Demandit thoroughly prior to being use.

NOTE: Paint should not be thinned. (Adding water may result in the appearance of discolorations on the façade finish. Paint hue changes after thinning).

Up

Method of use

Demandit paint may be applied using a brush or roller.

Up

Painting

Painting should be carried out by an experienced contractor.

Surfaces should be painted twice in order to avoid differences in tint. Demandit paint should be applied in continuous coats with the last brush or roller movement always being carried out in the same direction. Two coats of paint should always be applied in case of colour changes. Painting with the use of an overly dry roller may result in uneven coverage of the surface. Clean tools with water while paint is still wet.

Remarks and restrictions

Demandit paints should not be used directly on the base coat as a finish for insulation systems.
